About the role

Verum Artes is looking for a strategic Sustainability & Environmental Affairs Specialist to help shape sustainable urban and industrial transformation projects across the Randstad. You’ll work on initiatives related to climate adaptation, post-industrial redevelopment, energy transition, and environmental permitting — in close collaboration with government bodies, infrastructure managers, and private sector stakeholders. This is a key role in the environmental and sustainability strategy of our client, a global player in materials and energy solutions.

What you will be doing

• Lead and manage environmental compliance and permitting processes for redevelopment sites in the Randstad.
• Oversee Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and sustainability reporting, aligned with ISO 14001 and EU frameworks.
• Provide strategic advice on circular land use, brownfield revitalization, and energy infrastructure integration.
• Engage with municipalities, provincial authorities, local communities, and environmental regulators.
• Identify and implement renewable energy and nature-inclusive design strategies for post-industrial zones.
• Align local sustainability goals with global ESG and decarbonization frameworks.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior project managers, engineers, and public-sector clients.

Who you are

• Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Environmental Law, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainable development, or spatial strategy.
• In-depth knowledge of Dutch environmental and spatial legislation.
• Demonstrated experience with ISO 14001, EIAs, and stakeholder consultation processes.
• Familiarity with the energy transition, infrastructure redevelopment, or urban planning in the Netherlands.
